For a year now we’ve been building on this small thing called Tictail. In short, Tictail let’s you create a webshop fast, simple and free. 

But that’s only the beginning, over this coming year we’ll iterate and tweak our platform to serve a new generation of webshops. We’ll do so by launching feature set that will increase our store sales, social reach and, last but not least, make e-commerce a truly inspiring and fun experience. 

Today we’re launching a private beta of our core product. We’re looking for the first few stores to help us create the future of e-commerce. Are you one of those stores? Do you know one that is?

How I got to know Siavash was nothing less than serendipity (Finally I got to use that S-word). He found the bottle post and we found him amazing. It gives me gooze bumps to think that less than a year ago I had not even heard his name before and today he’s not only co-founder and partner of the company I invest my life in but honestly one of my closest friends. Siavash was a perfect match.

This year Tictail will grow from the four of us to 10-12 peeps so apparently were hiring. But as Tictail wasn’t founded out of potential but passion I’m not looking to find employees but friends to join a team rather than a company. Dont worry, I do realize exactly how crazy that sounds, “Carl founded a company in order to pay people to be his friends”. The point I’m trying to make is that building Tictail takes time, a lot of time. Most of that time we spend together. Tictail has a big chance of winning but it’s like any sport, its not the names of the teams but the players and their performance. If anyone at any point would stop playing well with the others that’s not his or hers problem, the whole team will effectively run slower. 

The other thing is that bad brings bad. It’s like youre back in grade school and someone says something about someone to you and although you really think this someone is kind of sweet you say something nasty about her hair just to keep your cool.

How do you find the perfect fit then? Well honestly I have no clue. I can see how you can find one or two, or in my case three even… But twelve? The verdict is still out. I have a few pointers that guide me though.

 - In my opinion ambition goes over experience. You can always learn but never know a better way…

- Always hire hands-on people but make sure to surround yourself with talkers as they do occassionly stumble over valid points.

- make sure that you would enjoy inviting them over for dinner. Social skill is an important skill

- make sure its not their only skill
